I’m being 100% serious when I say that I wouldn’t wish yeast infections on my worst enemy.
I mean, I truly cannot think of a more uncomfortable and frustrating thing to experience.
This is a topic I come at with a LOT of passion, because I had recurring yeast infections for years. Just sharing some really cute personal information for you! 🥰
But it has to be talked about because it is estimated that 75% of women will experience at least one yeast infection their lifetimes.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Yeast Infections are one of those things that when you have one, YOU KNOW.
The symptoms include vaginal itching, swelling around the vagina, pain during sex, abnormal (abnormal for you) vaginal discharge, and soreness – 👋🏼 just to name a few.
But what causes a yeast infection?
They occur when there is an imbalance in the vaginal microbiome, which can be caused by a number of things – but typically it is either/ both:
A) Substances in/ around that throw off the vaginal pH
B) Poor gut health
3 things to do if/ when you get frequent yeast infections:
💋 Get tested – have your doc swab you and confirm that you are for sure having yeast infections because the symptoms can be similar to some STD’s/ STI’s
💋 Support gut health with fiber, stress management, avoiding shitty sugar sources, collagen/ bone broth, quality sleep, and proper nutrition
💋 Work with a qualified healthcare professional that can help you figure out the root cause of your yeast infections and design a protocol best suited to your body!
Is this something you’re struggling with? Shoot me a message and let’s talk about how we can team up and create a plan to get rid of the damn things for good! 💌
