You should ideally be pooping at least once daily and it should be relatively easy. If you’re not? Sis, we gotta fix that. Constipation is when pooping is difficult/ hard/ dry; 3x or less per week; and/ or you never feel like you’re “done”
Constipation can occur for a number of reasons, but it can totally fuck up your hormones 🙃
We eliminate estrogen through our bowels, so when we aren’t having healthy movements we get a buildup in our bodies which can create a hormonal imbalance.
⭐️ Having a lack of bowel movements can contribute to poor gut health + food sensitivities, inflammation, bloating, development of disease, and more.
⚡️Magnesium – This will for sure get things moving! @pureencapsulations is my favorite brand. Magnesium Citrate is helpful for constipation but make sure you do some research on the different forms of magnesium to choose what’s best for you!
⚡️Fiber – Chia seeds and psyllium husk are favorites of mine. Try to shoot for 20+ grams each day (work your way up!)
⚡️Food intolerances can cause constipation – Try an elimination diet to see if you’re sensitive to anything. Dairy? Gluten?
⚡️Drink more water – Juices, tea, and coffee don’t count as water.
⚡️Poor gut health or IBS – Work on gut health with bone broth, collagen, fiber, stress management, quality sleep. If you have IBS, psyllium husk is a good neutral fiber source.
If this is something you’re struggling with and think it is affecting your hormones, work with a qualified practitioner who can help you fix your poop problems.
This is something I do with my clients, so feel free to reach out with any q’s! 💌
