I started practicing FAM as a birth control method + as a way to get curious about my health, but what I didn’t expect was how it would shift my relationship with my body.
Honestly, practicing FAM completely transformed my life! Here’s what I noticed:
I can see what is going on under the surface – Our hormones work in a cycle and when things aren’t firing off like they should be or when we’ve got abnormal symptoms, FAM helps us to SEE when it is happening to start piecing together the WHY. No more stress guessing. No more overthinking every single thing. No more feeling out of control.
I stopped fearing my fertility – When I started having sex, I popped Plan B like it was fucking candy (things I did that wrecked my hormones pt. 395) because I was so scared of getting pregnant. I didn’t know that I couldn’t get pregnant all month long, hell I barely understood what ovulation was. With FAM, I feel like I have total control over my fertility. It is no longer up to a pill, it isn’t up to chance, it is up to ME.
I’m confident in family planning – When I was told that I fell on the PCOS spectrum, I instantly was overwhelmed with the fear that getting pregnant one day would be impossible. Well, just like we use FAM to avoid pregnancy, we can flip that shit and reverse it and use it to help achieve pregnancy. I no longer feel overwhelmed by the idea of getting pregnant, because FAM takes all of the guessing out of it!
I can accurately cycle sync – A LOT of women don’t have a 28-day cycle where they ovulate on day 14 (I’m a 32-day cycle kinda gal with ovulation on day 19). If I was cycle syncing on a 28-day cycle, I’d be totally confused about my moods, my sex drive, and my productivity. Now, every month I can ride the hormone waves and support my body all month long, making my relationship with myself and others so much easier!
