I am a Holistic Health Practitioner, energy healer, podcaster, Atlanta local, period expert, sexual health educator, and so much more.
Let me set the stage: You’re with a new partner. Maybe a few weeks into dating. Things are getting hot and you’re really feeling it. You’re making out heavy and one way or another you find yourselves in the bedroom and clothes are falling on the floor. You reach into your top drawer to pull out some lube. After the awkwardness that is unavoidable when it comes to applying lube, your partner penetrates you. Every nerve in your body is heightened and everything feels so good.
Aaaaand then the burning begins and it feels like your insides are straight up on fire. So you’re wracking your brain with how the hell to tell your partner that the lube burns without making things weird, but also if you don’t tell them ASAP you know you’re going to be left sore and with a potential infection.
I want to help you avoid those situations. Because I’ve been there. A lot of us have actually.
Lubes are packed with shitty ingredients that can cause allergic reactions, inflammation, and infections.
Here’s some ingredients you may want to avoid in lubes:
Lubricants can be part of any healthy, consenting sexual relationship and they can also be part of your own self-pleasure.
If you’re turning to lubricants for vaginal dryness, I would encourage you to get to the root cause of what may be contributing to the feelings of dryness!
So let’s talk about some #CaleeCertified (that has a nice ring to it) lubes that support the vaginal microbiome and won’t leave you feeling raw down there.
Oil-based lubes are not safe to use with condoms and can break down latex condoms. Synthetic oils may cause irritation, but some say that use of food-grade oils can be used externally on the body as well as internally. I wouldn’t recommend putting anything in your vagina that isn’t supposed to be in there, but with that being said here’s a good oil-based lube!
Coconut Love Oil by Woo More Play is a coconut-based lubricant that can be used externally and internally!
Water-based lubes are safe to use with condoms and are less likely to stain clothes or sheets than oil-based lubes. They may contain glycerine, so if you know you’re prone to yeast infections, make sure you’re checking the labels!
Shine Organic by maude is an Aloe-based lube that is 100% organic, safe for use with condoms, pH balanced, as well as glycerin & paraben free!
The Organic Lube by Sustain is another Aloe-based lube that is 98% organic and safe to use with condoms. It is pH balanced and free of all the junk.
BioNude Ultra Sensitive Personal Lubricant by Good Clean Love is a water-based lube that is pH balanced and hypoallergenic. No crappy ingredients and safe for use with condoms.
I’d love to hear from you! Have you ever tried any of these lubricants? Let’s continue the conversation inside my *SECRET* Facebook Community >> Join the Community!
