Raise your hand if you’ve been personally victimized by calorie calculators 🙋♀️ When I was in high school I remember plugging in my current weight, my goal weight, and getting something RIDICULOUS like 800 calories per day – instead of wondering if I was eating enough, I was taught I was eating TOO much.
To put this into perspective: a toddler needs 1000-1400 calories per day…
👉🏼 You see, the problem with setting a goal weight and focusing on calories in vs calories out is that it doesn’t account for your body’s actual NEEDS
👉🏼 A “goal weight” may not be the weight that I need to be at to have a ovulate, to have healthy hair, to have energy
👉🏼 Calories in vs calories out don’t account for the current state of my gut, my day-to-day life, my stress levels, and if my hormones are healthy
The average active menstruating body needs 1800+ calories DAILY. That means we need to fucking eat and we get to enjooooy it
Food fear comes from a lack of education around how our body actually works (and this isn’t your fault for not knowing – we aren’t taught this stuff!) – but when you can understand how to fuel your body and be consistent, you don’t have to think about a goal weight or calories in vs calories out
