A tale as old as time… getting off of HBC kicked my ass 🫠
I got on hormonal birth control because I was going off to college and wanted additional protection 👀 but within a few months, I felt so terrible on HBC that I ended up coming off of the pill 🥲
My hormones were already struggling before I went on HBC and were a total mess after 🎢
It took me yearssss to get my hormones and gut to a healthy place because I had no idea what I was doing. Now, as a hormone health coach, I teach my clients strategies that help them reclaim their well-being and feel like themselves again in just a few months 💅
Now, the things I teach my clients have them feeling like themselves again in just a few months 💅
If I could go back in time, I would have done these top three things differently when getting off HBC:
🥑 Focused on nutrition – Nutrition plays a crucial role in rebalancing hormones. Unfortunately, I didn’t prioritize this aspect when I quit HBC. I wish I had focused on eating enough, incorporating blood-sugar supportive meals, and overall nourishing my body as a whole.
💊 Supported myself with a few quality supplements rather than trying to take 20 different things that I thought would “cure” me. In hindsight, I regret not prioritizing a few high-quality supplements specifically designed to support hormone balance. Quality over quantity is key. (Just a reminder: If your system is stressed out, constipated, running on 4 hours of sleep, and relying on multiple cups of coffee, supplements or a nutrition protocol won’t have a chance at healing the body) We’ve got to work on those foundational pieces for the rest of it to matter
📱 Stop Googling everything – Ah, the notorious Dr. Google! I can’t stress enough how much I relied on Google for answers for every symptom. I read every article I could get my hands on and I tried just about everything I read about. In retrospect, this only added to the stress and frustration. I wish I would’ve put my phone down and followed a consistent plan rather than trying everything that came up on Google.
⭐️ BONUS: Seeking support – One of the most challenging aspects of my journey was the overwhelming sense of loneliness I experienced during the process. I didn’t know who to go to for questions, and I watched my health deteriorate and felt like I had zero control. I wish I had actively sought help and obtained more support throughout the process. Having someone knowledgeable and empathetic by your side can make a world of difference in navigating the post-HBC journey.
